Prime Minister Pinda Budget Estimates for 2009/2010:


Local authorities buy 1628 power tillers worth TZS 10.6bn & 55 tractors worth TZS 2.2bn


Six regions (Iringa, Mbeya, Kigoma, Morogoro, Rukwa & Ruvuma) would be given TZS 29.2bn inputs subsidy under the District Agricultural Development Programmes (DADPs)


Unproductive seminars & workshops will be cancelled and buying of luxurious cars halted


Re-introduction of compulsory national service for Form 6 leavers by 2010/11


Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) registered 797 new projects worth 3.6 billion US dollars which created 109,328 jobs.

Out of the projects, 454 (57 per cent) are owned by Tanzanians, 128 (16 per cent) are owned by foreigners and 215 (27 per cent) were joint ventures between Tanzanians and foreigners.


Up to May 2009, 1.3 million new jobs were created, surpassing the target of having 1 million new jobs by 2010.


On the fight against malaria; Mr Pinda said that in 2009/10 the government will distribute freely treated mosquito nets to all children under five years, in which over 14 million nets will be distributed.
