Govt to take over Zain shares

The government will this Friday meet with its shareholders in Zain for final talks on transfer modalities of the firm’s 35 per cent shares to the Tanzania Telecommunication Company Ltd (TTCL).

If both shareholders agree on the modalities, the Govt would then ‘re-take over’ TTCL by 100 per cent, but would float part of the 35 per cent shares from Zain in the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) and sell the rest to TTCL workers.
