The country is in dire need of qualified accountants yet the numbers continue giving us a depressing outlook.
According to a statement by Mr. Pius Maneno, the acting Director of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) late last year Tanzania has a shortage of 2,026 accountants. He went on to mention that that a survey carried out by the board revealed that 4,000 accountants were needed to sustain increased economic activities.
Depressing News:
Numbers just released by the National Board of Accountancy and Auditors (NBAA) paint a very grin outlook over the development of the accounting profession.
Only 20 per cent of candidates who sat for several levels of examinations conducted by the National Board of Accountancy and Auditors (NBAA) in May this year passed their exams. Out of a total of 3,249 candidates who sat for the exams only 651 passed the exams.
Out of the 639 candidates who had sat for the FINAL Module F examinations 178 passed while 116 candidates had been referred and 124 others re- referred and 205 failed.
Out of the 178 candidates who qualified to be awarded the certificate of completion of CPA (T) programme, 139 were male and 39 female.
This years overall performance results (20%) are up compared to last year’s which was 16.7% a slight improvement.
